Celtic Music

 

Celtic music originated in the 1600s, from the countries of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. 

The people living in these regions are called Celts. Thats how this music derived its name. 

Celtic music can be described as a type of folk music, with distinctive musical features and lyrics. 

This music encompasses a variety of musical styles. The style of this music could be as peppy and foot tapping as a dancing tune or as mild and melodic as a lullaby. 

Celtic music, especially the mild and mellow style, has a certain mysterious and magical quality to it. That is one of the most striking features.

The celtic songs are usually accompanied by Violins, Cellos, Violas, Lute, Flute, Bagpipe, Harp and few other commonly used intruments. 

Today Celtic music is played and heard world wide. 

Musicians like Clannad, Enya, The Chieftains and The Corrs have created a Global awareness of Celtic music.
