David Gates’ Goodbye Girl

 

Goodbye girl is a beautiful, soft rock song by David Gates, who is the lead singer of the band, Bread. 

It is the theme song of the movie of the same title, “Goodbye girl”.

In december 1997, after the premier of the movie, which was a big hit, this song was released as a single in the third solo album of David Gates, with the same name again, “Goodbye girl” , in the following year. 

The song reached number 15 on the billboard’s hot 100 and became the biggest hit of Gates’ solo career.

This track was also used as the ending song in Season 2, Episode 3 of the telivision Series, Cold Case. 

Apart from Gates’ solo career, the band, Bread was also extremely successful. 

The band consisted of 5 artists. David Gates (The lead), Jimmy Griffin, Robb Royer, Mike Botts and Larry Knechtel and they had many songs chart the billboard.
