Shenandoah and The Tabernacle Choir

The Tabernacle Choir, previously known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, is an American Choir.

A part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints.

This choir has 360 volunteer members. All of them, highly accomplished musicians.

For the last 100 years, the choir had been performing in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.

The Tabernacle is famous for the fact that it houses an extravagent organ that contains 11,623 pipes. And the Choir is usually accompanied by this.

Needless to say, just the sight of such a huge choir and the organ is breath-taking.

The choir is famed for its high music standards.

The Tabernacle Choir had been awarded a Grammy, 2 peabody and 3 emmy awards and many more accolades.

Shenandoah, is a traditional folk song from the early 19th century.

It appears to be the song of American and Canadian Voyageurs or Fur traders that travelled in the Missouri River.

However the exact origin is not authentically known.

Over the time, different sets of lyrics were developed and added to the song.

By the mid 1800s, the song became a sea shanty and was heard or sung by the sailors around the world.

Various artists have presented this song, with their own interpretations and ornamentations.

But this version remains extremely special for the way Choir and folk was blended so beautifully. And the rendition is top class!
