Story of a Survivor.
"I was a normal school going child and I was a good student. At the age of 11, I was molested by a close family member. My entire life had turned upside down."
"For a very long time, I was extremely depressed. After about 3 months of this incident, I came across Whitney Houston's I will always love you. For some reason, I just felt like that song was talking to me. I started hearing that song every day. And I started searching for more music in that genre. I would almost forget about this incident while I was searching for new music or hearing music. Everytime things got overwhelming, I would just go and put on my headphones and hear music.”
“I am not a musician. But somehow music just became my source of strength. Up until that point I dint speak about this incident to anyone.
It had been almost 7 months. One day, when I was hearing Celine Dion's That's the way it is, something just snapped. I had this
overwhelming need to just cry out loud. And I did. That's the day I told my mother everything.
The incident. The things that led up to it and the after math. And things eventually got better after that."
"Things dint get better overnight ofcourse. But eventually I got out of depression and focused on my studies. But my love for music grew with every passing day. Music will always be my source of strength."
Eventually, she learned to play the piano purely for the love of it and found a way to make music a part of her lifestyle.
